Task Decomposition

Module: agentic

What it is

Task decomposition is breaking a complex goal into smaller, manageable subtasks. "Write a research report" might decompose into: gather sources, read and summarise each, identify themes, create outline, draft sections, and revise. Decomposition makes complex goals tractable.

Why it matters

Effective decomposition is crucial for complex agent tasks. Poor decomposition leads to confusion or incomplete work. Good decomposition creates clear, achievable subtasks. When using agents for complex work, the quality of task decomposition often determines success.
