What it is

Output format refers to specifying how you want the AI's response structured. You might request bullet points, numbered lists, tables, JSON, markdown, a specific word count, or particular sections. Most AI assistants will follow formatting instructions.

Why it matters

Specifying format saves you time reformatting outputs and ensures you get responses in usable forms. If you need a table, ask for a table. If you want pros and cons in separate sections, say so. The AI won't know your preferred format unless you specify it.
