What it is

Memory refers to an AI assistant's ability to remember information across separate conversations. Some assistants can store facts you tell them—your name, preferences, projects you're working on—and recall them in future sessions. This creates continuity between conversations.

Why it matters

Memory reduces repetition and creates a more personalised experience. Instead of re-explaining your context each time, the AI remembers. However, memory also has privacy implications—be mindful of what you want the AI to remember, and know how to view and clear stored memories.
