What it is

Delimiters are markers that separate different parts of your prompt, making the structure clear to the AI. Common delimiters include triple quotes, XML-style tags, markdown headers, or dashes. They help distinguish instructions from content, examples from the actual task, or different sections of input.

Why it matters

Delimiters prevent confusion in complex prompts. Without clear separation, the AI might treat example text as instructions or mix up different inputs. Using delimiters like text here or <document>content</document> makes your prompt's structure explicit and reduces misinterpretation.
