Context (in prompts)

What it is

Context is background information you provide in your prompt to help the AI understand your situation and needs. This might include who you are, what you're working on, constraints you have, or relevant background details. The more relevant context you provide, the more tailored the response.

Why it matters

AI doesn't know anything about you unless you tell it. Providing context like "I'm writing an email to my manager about..." or "This is for a beginner audience" helps the AI calibrate its response appropriately. Missing context is one of the most common reasons for unsatisfying AI responses.
