AI Limitations
Module: beginner tips
What it is
AI limitations are the boundaries of what current AI systems can reliably do. These include knowledge cutoffs, tendency to hallucinate, difficulty with very long documents, inconsistency across attempts, and lack of true understanding. AI is powerful but not omniscient or infallible.
Why it matters
Understanding limitations prevents frustration and misuse. When you know AI struggles with recent events, you'll check dates. When you know it can hallucinate citations, you'll verify sources. Realistic expectations lead to effective use—treating AI as a capable but imperfect tool.
