AI Authorship

What it is

AI authorship questions whether AI can be considered an author and who should get credit for AI-assisted work. Current law generally requires human authorship for copyright. But when AI contributes significantly, traditional notions of authorship become complicated.

Why it matters

If you use AI substantially in creative work, questions arise about attribution and ownership. Can you claim full authorship? Should AI contribution be disclosed? Different contexts have different norms, and practices are still evolving. Transparency about AI use is generally advisable.
